Due to the many inquiries I have received about the Schaublin 120VM, I have decided to do a post on it with photos and information. You can bid on this machine on the Repository page listed on the top menu.
This is how it appeared when it was advertised in 1947:
Dennis used this machine almost every day while working in his shop, but he kept it in absolutely perfect condition. The original machining marks are still visible on the bed. The center height of both the head stock and tail stock are spot on.
The accessories include, but are not limited to the following:
- Set of 98 collets
- 3 male centers with taper
- 5 W25 male centers & 1 female center
- 3 live male centers with taper
- 2 drilling chucks with taper
- 17 small step chucks
- 14 large step chucks
- 1 face plate
- 1 6 jaw chuck
- 1 4 jaw chuck
- 1 centering microscope
- 1 wax chuck
- 1 tool rest
- 2 quick change tool posts
It is strange to think that this is the last year of Dennis Harmon’s workshop. It is such a privilege to be one of the last to ever step foot in it. Here is a photo of him not long before he died. I can’t help but wish he were here to ring in the new year. This evening I am going to raise a glass to Dennis.
