The Schauby’s Arrival

June 25, 2013June 25, 2013by Brittany Nicole Cox4 Comments on The Schauby’s Arrival

I'm excited to say I've finally got my Schauby coming - by Schauby - I mean Schaublin. It's a clockmaker's pet name for the most beautiful machine ever made for horology - except maybe a rose engine. These Swiss made beauties are really tops! All I need now is an overhead drive system, dividing head, [...]

Delays – Delays! and a New Workshop!

June 22, 2013June 22, 2013by Brittany Nicole CoxLeave a Comment on Delays – Delays! and a New Workshop!

Well it has been quite some time since my last post. I've had a few in the works and Ségolène has been working on a few herself! Luckily, I have a good excuse for my absence. I am setting up a new workshop in Seattle. I will update with pictures and such, but for now I'll [...]

Happy 2023 from my 💖 to yours. Thank you for joining me in this space where I have the privilege of making magic. I can’t wait to share the year as it unfolds and hear your stories too. Wishing you all the very best and sending lots of love for your 1st day in this new circle around the Sun ☀️💖☮️🔮I’m spending today hiking outside in nature, cooking black eyed peas (for 🍀), making crafts, and being with loved ones. Please share your New Year’s Day traditions with me below! I’d love to hear about them :) #tradition #newyear #happy
✨marked by the intense irrational reality of a dream✨ That may be the only way to describe the last few years and moments like this leave me staring at the space between awake and waking. How surreal that I would star in two feature length documentaries on time. Being featured on the poster for director @lizunnas film conjures a wild feeling; I can hardly believe that’s me. This passion of mine, I’ve dedicated my life to, has seen me through so many trials. I’ve sometimes wondered if I’d come out the other side. But here I am. Still. I keep holding on to the strange beauty of studying time. I take respite in it, despite the sacrifices it’s required of me. It’s an incredible truth I have the privilege to share with so many of you and the amazing horologists featured in this film. I am so lucky. Thank you so much to director @lizunna, producer @katmansoor, editor @warmbloodrising, executive producers @ianskellern & @hind_seddiqi. As well as to all of the amazing horologists @aldis_hodge, @ludovicballoard, @maxbusser, @philippe_dufour_officiel and crew who worked so hard to put this together. The film will premier in Canadian cinemas this February with more screenings to come. You can watch Making Time now on Amazon, iTunes, Vimeo, Google Play, and Journeyman Pictures. Find out more on the film’s website: https://makingtime.film or use the link in my bio.
After hosting a promise ring session this weekend, I decided to make this extra wide moiré band! It’s always hard to capture how rainbowy the guilloché is! But this one turned out so fun, 🌈 I’m inspired to make a few more. DM me if you want to snag one of these rainbow generators for yourself :)
Holy smokes y’all! I’m a featured author in @vanityfair I was asked to write about my work and role in two films for their Film & TV issue. @skellernian from @quillandpad wrote a fantastic piece about his experiences putting together his film Making Time. Our essays can be found together in the issue. I’m super proud of the essay and I hope if you read it, you enjoy it and feel inspired. Thank you so much to @lizunna @skellernian @keeperoftimemovie @hollyzross @n_foulkes
I realized I never shared the final photos of the special edition charity coaster set I made back in March. These were handmade using both the rose and straight line engines to produce different guilloché moire patterns inside peace signs. They were so fun to make and utilized historic techniques employed in the production of complex watch dials and case designs. I teach a class on this called Turning to Borders, which will be available for folks to take this fall. I’ve also decided to add these coasters to my special line of items specifically for charity causes. Keep an eye on the shop and class page for updates ✨✨✨in the meantime sending lots of love and peaceful thoughts to you all. #handmade #craft #guilloche #engineturning
I had the opportunity to chat with @timesromanau and @mediumwatch recently for the @fifthwrist podcast about so many things dear to my heart in this wild world of horological wonder. Link in bio. If you missed my talk in Seattle last month and wanted to attend, this informal chat covers a lot of what I spoke about and so much more! It was really fun and I’d love to share it with you ✨🌈✨ thanks for the opportunity Roman and Adam! #craft #horology #fifthwrist #wonder
