Combine your passion for patterns with the art of illustration in this four-day intensive class. Experience in Beginner’s Engine Turning is recommended.
This intensive class is aimed at creating an intimate and in depth master session, through a two to one ratio of students to teachers. This offers students the chance to delve into and explore master techniques in both enamel and guilloché work.
During the first day, participants will delve into the intricate process of applying engine turning on fine silver. Patterns will be executed using both the straight-line machine and the rose engine. Each student will be provided with fine silver sheet and roundels for engine turning, enabling them to create two glittering cloisonné pieces from scratch.
Under the guidance of Darci Shea, renowned in the field, and with assistance from Brittany Cox, students will immerse themselves in the cloisonné portion of the class on Saturday and Sunday.
Additionally, they will be introduced to the versatile techniques of utilizing mason stains and painting enamels. These methods allow for the incorporation of textures, enriching the creative process and bringing three dimensional elements to the work.
