Bird sings the blues - well not really. I think he sounds pretty chipper! This birdcage is about ready to head home after an overhaul, whistle work, and a few feathers to brighten his faded plumage. The little ormolu clock case cleaned and reassembled for the cutest little French clock. Old cleaning solutions left on the surface caused cuprous oxide build up. Here’s a beauty from the archives. My favorite singing bird I have had the pleasure of working on to date. It’s a modest bird, but its song is so brilliant and joy evoking. I miss being able to hear it. Alphonsine, a French 19th century children’s pull toy, is finally complete and what a transformation. Her head was fractured in two, one leg broken, another deformed, and more. Her tail was falling off, bobble head broken, horse hair missing from her collar, and she’d lost her voice. After an incredible amount of work by @loperatorium and myself, she is finally ready to return to the world. Barking on all four feet! Here are six engine turned 3” coasters in progress. The first three are straight line patterns : birds, moire, drape. The second three are rose engine patterns: moire, moire, basketweave variation. I’m pretty pleased with how these turned out so far. I haven’t yet trimmed the edge of the straight line patterns. Those are cut to the border by eye. This gorgeous gold watch came in for an overhaul and repair of the case spring, which was severely corroded into the case and fractured in two places. I am lucky to work with some very talented colleagues. In this case master goldsmith and watchmaker Phillip Peck sprung into action and made and installed a new case spring and screws, careful not to damage the original case or threads. Look at the healthy action on that spring!
